Ozveny staroslovienčiny pod Kráľovou hoľou

Festival of polyphonic folk and church singing

Old Slavic is the unifying base of several Slavic languages. Its application in literature, but also in church ceremonies has contributed to the rare preservation of the intellectual and musical message of past centuries. The intertwining, influencing and enrichment of church songs and folk songs enabled the emergence of numerous interpretive, original and local musical "dialects" in various villages in Slovakia. They have suggestive forms and peculiarities, they are characterized by musical-aesthetic values. All these rare creations of the spirit of the people of Slovakia are slowly disappearing with the retreat of Old Slavonic language from church ceremonies. This has prompted the emergence of the idea of creating a festival that will contribute to the preservation of the old Slavic and interesting traditional musical-singing styles of the villages and regions of Slovakia.
